Harvesting: Harvesting should be done after the first hard killing frost when the main stalks and leaves are surface dry. Any combine that can use clover seed screens or can be adjusted to process clover or alfalfa seeds can be used.

The ability to harvest the grain will vary, depending upon climatic and geographic conditions. High harvest yields and drier, cleaner grain will be obtained when the plants are harvested as dry as possible. For long-term storage, the grain amaranth moisture content must be 13% or less.

The harvesting of amaranth requires no special equipment, only make sure that you have screens small enough so that you don’t lose the seed!!
